Warrior Nation Fans!
The last 12 months for the Utah Warriors have been extremely exciting and full of changes! As many of you know we are entering our second season as a team and as a rugby organization. I have said this many times already, I believe rugby is on the verge of becoming a major professional sport in America. Having the Utah Warriors as part of this growth and in charting new territory has been extremely rewarding!
Some fun things will be happening with the Warriors in 2012! First off, the Warriors have been fortunate to establish a dedicated fitness facility. The Prospex Academy in Salt Lake City is a new and elite training and fitness facility open to the public in 2012, but is a place the Warriors will unite and train as a team.
Another major off-season change was bringing on a new coach, Salesi Sika. Salesi is a seasoned rugby veteran who has played for the USA in multiple world cups, and played professionally in France. He’s a great guy and I think he will be able to do some great things with the Warriors. He believes rugby is on a growth pattern like I do, so 2012 will be exciting to go out and pound the Super League with the best team in America, our Utah Warriors!
Finally I wanted to thank every person who has supported me, supported the team and supported our players. This team went from a business opportunity to almost becoming like one of my kids that I get to watch grow! I’ve been as proud as you can be to see guys like Ryan Chapman and Maka Unufe get their first caps, and get a chance to play for their country. Knowing the Warriors played a small role in getting those guys there drives me to help get this team even more exposure! The best rugby players in America are right here in Utah, and we are about to show this to the world. Don’t believe me? Wait until you see this team on the field this spring, we are going to dominate the Super League, GUARANTEED!
